Cabinet Refacing vs Custom new cabinets

By Izzie · December 26, 2009 · Filed in How To, cabinets · No Comments »

The Pros and cons between cabinet refacing and new or custom cabinets are:

When you decided to remodel your kitchen if you are going to get all new cabinets  you will  have to have  some one demolish your existing cabinets and counter tops, then you might have issues with fixing your walls  from the demolition damages, and you might have to fix or may be even to  replace your flooring because the foot print might change and so on.

But if  you give your kitchen a face lift with cabinet refacing you save at least 50% by not replacing the counter top (if you like the one you have or if you just replaced it not too long ago) which you would not be able to do with replacing all cabinets with  new cabinets, when you do refacing  you will be able to stay in the house, use all your appliances and save money there by not eating out side etc. Cabinet Refacing saves you a tone of money and your kitchen/bathroom will look just like new with all the latest styles, if your exiting cabinet interiors are in good shape why to replace the cabinet just give them a nice face lift.

Beware of Crooked Contractors Did you know some remodeling contractors attempt to hide illegal activities and unfair business practices by opening new licenses?

Did you know a general contractor performing work greater than $500.00 must be licensed by the State of California?

Fortunately for the informed homeowner, any new contractor license issued by the Contractor’s State License Board will be linked to a contractor’s previously issued license(s). This will allow you to investigate the reputation of a contractor. Be sure the contractor selected to remodel your kitchen is legally permitted to perform the work required. A “B-1″ license, or “General” license allows for all trades. Any other license allows for only specific trades to be performed. (more…)
